You can discover more about a person in
an hour of play than in a year of conversation.

RecTec
has just received the latest catalogue from BigToys. The new catalogue
features three new unique play events: the Turn Across, SkyGame
and Rock n' Cross; all three provide a high degree of both social
and physical play. These new designs are a great compliment to
any BigToys structure, which are now available in the traditional
conditioned Wood they are famous for as well as their new Recycled
Steel and plastic product. As always BigToys continues to respect
the environment, through recycling and the use of recycled and
recyclable material. To request the new catalogue contact
RecTec.

Rest for RecTec
It
has been a busy few months here as July comes to an end we are
at the halfway mark in our installations of the childcare grant
playgrounds. As you may not be aware earlier this year the Provincial
Government announced there would be grants available for non-profit
childcare centres in order to update and replace outdoor play
equipment. RecTec has helped secure more than $500,000 for childcare
centres and we are currently working on getting all the new playgrounds
installed. Check out our Project
Gallery for a small sampling!
Last
November, in conjunction with the CSA - Health Licensing Boards
of BC announced that all Childcare Facilities will have until
the end of November 2005 to replace and update play equipment
to comply with new play area guidelines. For questions about your
own compliance contact your local
licensing agency.

Ferries Terminal Gets a Fun Makeover!
Just
in time for the busy summer season, we have just finished installation
of the new playground at the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal. On your
next trip to the island take some time out and play on the steel
BigToys structure, take a spin on the Kompan Galaxy Spica and
lounge in the Kompan Elements Cottage. If you don't have plans
to visit the island soon see the playground picture below:

When
you are playing take note of how the colour scheme of the playground
compliments the colours used for BC Ferries. And while you are
at the terminal be sure to pick up some of the delicious sponge
toffee from the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory!

Rebuilding Sri Lanka
with Playgrounds
Last December
a series of Tsunami waves devastated the coast of Sri Lanka,
thousands of families lost their homes and were displaced; entire
communities were washed away. The USAID is leading the way to
bringing back some form of normalcy to the devastated coastal
region of Sri Lanka through the construction of 100 playgrounds.
The playgrounds are intended to become a gathering place and
restore some of the daily life activities to the families and
children. View the full
article. (Word, 6MB)
